Don’t Procrastinate
Once we say “Happy New Year”, it feels like life just slows down. Then once the kids get out of school, life picks up just a little more. Work wise, I really try and take somewhat of a break to spend time with my kids. Let’s be honest, they sure don’t stay little for long, and before you know it those summers of doing crafts, jumping on the trampoline, park hopping, diving into the pool will look a lot different as they get older. At the beginning of summer it always seems like there is SO much time before school starts again, but then all of a sudden it’s August and once we see all that back to school supplies hit the Target shelves, it starts to get a little more hectic again as we prepare for another school year.
Once September and October hit, the weather here in Houston cools down just enough for all of the fun Fall festivals to happen and those after school sports start up again! By November, Thanksgiving and Christmas take over and there is that rush for Christmas cards to get out and to our family and friends in time. *Last year, I mailed all of mine out December 1st and Family in Canada didn’t get them until MAY!*
My point is, life happens, it gets busy and somewhat stressful at times. Don’t wait until the last minute to book your family photos. Get it on the calendar now.
Choosing the right photographer for YOU
There are so many amazingly talented photographers around. Each one has a different style and a different vision for their art. Make sure you do your research. Check out their portfolio on their website. Find them on any of the social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram. Do you like what you see? How do their images make you feel? My photography editing is rich and true to color with more contrast than not. I love those real life connections and belly laughs in all of my photos so I aim to make your experience with me fun for everyone! Being yourself = being more comfortable
One of the main reasons why I don’t have a client closet, is that I want you to BE you. I want you to feel comfortable in what you are wearing. If you don’t have those flowy maxi dresses in your closet, you probably don’t feel comfortable in them or they just arent your style. My point is, if you don’t feel comfortable in what you are wearing, it WILL come across in your images. When you book your session with me, I will send you a separate styling link to help visualize some outfits and colors together. To make things super simple, you can even purchase them right then and there from cost effective retailors that aren’t going to break the bank. I am there every step of the way if you want me to be with advice on colors and patterns.
Choosing a location
This one is easy, all you need is a grassy field, maybe some fun colored walls or even the lights of the city! Whatever it is, the most important part is you and your beautiful family. I’ll being the fun and all the energy to chase around those kiddos. You bring the smiles and leave the location hunting up to me! I have a good 10-15 locations that I love to shoot at and know the light. If you have an idea and want to try somewhere new, lets do it!
